I visited Spain in February for work and then stayed on to spend a weekend with my mother.  This was the first time I had used my digital camera "in anger".

Mancloa Tower
I found this tower, the Mancloa Tower,
on my first walk on the Sunday I arrived.
I was very taken with it.

Then I went for a ride on the Cable Car, or Telefèrico, from the city to the park.  This is the only photo I took because, although the views were good, it was difficult to capture them on camera.
Images from my room - perhaps I should have used a tripod !

Then Mummy came to join me for the weekend.  We had Sunday Lunch in a restaurant called Taberna del Alabardero.

We visited the Royal Palace and walked around the Plaza de Oriente, before having a set menu in the Cafe de Oriente, on the square.  It was extraordinarily cheap - a famous cafe in the heart of a capital city with good food, wine and service.
Here are views of the square, Plaza de Oriente, with the Palacio Real in the background, and the Opera House on the right hand side.
